Christmas Haul #4

I was planning on posting about one of my new bits of clothing, but I've gone and caught flu- which means no energy to take photos! So instead I'm going to blab about my new hair product and brush...

Phomollient Styling Foam from Aveda  AND  Large Hot Curl Brush from Boots

My hair is extremely fussy! It's quite thin and tends more towards oily than dry, so most products tend to weigh my hair down or just make it greasy, sticky or flat. I was a bit skeptical about the Phomollient foam at first, but the first time I used it I was seriously impressed! My hair seemed twice as thick as normal, without feeling like it was coated in something to increase the volume, and it stayed that was all day. Although the product is expensive, I would recommend it if you have easily weighed down hair!

The brush is not expensive, from Boots Essential range, but it's incredibly efficient at make both volume and curls. I have had issues with this kind of curling brush before, my hair seems to tangle around the brush and form a mass of knots in mere seconds. The space between the bristles on this particular brush seem to be placed in a way that holds my hair so that I can blow-dry curls into it, but doesn't turn it into a birds-nest. The size is wonderful too, it forms really elegant large curls, and when used at the hair-roots it creates a lot of volume. Definitely recommend this brush too.

Got any favourite hair products or brushes? Or any tips on creating volume and curls?

Christmas Haul #3

This is a two-present-reviews-in-one-post post, here are the goods...

I am totally in LOVE with this hat, OBEY does some pretty snazzy hats but I think this is one of their best. Might be a little biased though. I love the simplicity of it, and the colours go with so many more colours than you'd think!
Of course, it had to be a snap-back, how else will I make a guys hat fit my tiny head. Also, I'm a little bit in love with snap-backs just because I can pretend to be an American teen in the 90's and poke my ponytail out the hole at the back. Not ashamed to say I do like that look with the right outfit.

I was a little worried that a flatpeak wouldn't suit me, I've been told on many occasions that I'm 'cutesy', but it actually provided a really nice contrast against this cute white blouse, and of course it goes with my hidden-wedge high tops (in the same colour, almost exactly!) for a more edgy look.

The second present I received was the nail varnish I am wearing in the picture above. I have been searching for a decent gold nail varnish for so long, they all seem to have a tacky over-shinyness to them or are just a weird shade of gold. But this one was just right - shiny but not glittery, and leaning towards a bronze colour which makes it a little more muted. Lovely!

Maybelline Extra Lasting Nail Varnish (Shade 186 Liquid Gold)

Plus the nail varnish lasts 'Up To 7 Days', which is a definite bonus for me, because I can never find the time to repaint my nails when they get chipped!

Christmas Haul #2

I can't count the number of times I've looked in the mirror after doing my make up and thought:
'It doesn't look finished. Something is missing'
The other day I realised why - somewhere along the lines of rushing to get ready for lectures, and not bothering with makeup because I'd be spending the entire day at home doing essays, I've got makeup amnesia. I'd managed to completely forget a key aspect of my makeup routine - lip-gloss.
I was totally shocked, I love lip-gloss, how could I forget it? I mean, the stuff is brilliant- totally completes any look, that is, if you have the right colour.
Maybe that's why I stopped wearing lip-gloss, the extra hassle of finding the right colour to match my makeup and clothes? Don't get me wrong, when I'm not buried under heaps of Uni work and I actually get some spare time, then there's not much I like better than spending time messing around perfecting all those little details. But I don't ever seem to have spare time. So my poor lip-glosses have been abandoned, beautiful and lonely at the bottom of my makeup box.
Not anymore! Especially now, since the two new lip-glosses I got in my stocking are the exact colours I have been missing. I no longer have an excuse, how long does it take just to whip a quick coat of gorgeous over my lips in the morning? Two seconds tops? Totally worth it!
So, here they are, my brand new shiny things...

Christmas Haul #1

I got quite a few bits of clothing and beauty product type things for Christmas, not surprising when I think back to my Christmas List- which pretty much entirely consisted of clothing and beauty products!

Anyway, as part of my New Years resolutions I am going to attempt to update my blog my regularly, but due to my ridiculously large work-load I'm not going to have much time to look at current trends and other things. SO! I'm going to stretch out my Christmas presents for a few posts until I have more free time. Not entirely because I'm swapped/lazy, I seriously am so enamored with my new things that I want to dedicate a post to each one!

Here's the first...

DKNY Be Delicious Intense Perfume! AHHH! I've wanted this for so long! Who wouldn't want to smell like super fresh juicy apples? I was super picky and specified that I needed the apple with the green top, not the silver one, because it has...

"A higher concentration of the key apple note results in a more intoxicating s
cent that resembles the first bite of a freshly picked apple through to the core giving it depth"

They weren't lying - completely LUSSHHH! I'm going to be liberally applying this daily from now on, and crying when it runs out - definitely won't be able to replace it on my student budget!

Thank you Santa Baby!!
